Residents for NJ-3 Update Archives:
- 11.19.05 - Today the Gloucester County Times published Residents for NJ-3's letter to the editior, responding to Senator Sweeney's comments in the article "NJDOT will add $1.5M to PATCO rail study". The letter to the Editor can be viewed here.
- 11.16.05 - A Courier Post Article State aid needed for rail project discusses the funding issues that the PATCO expansion project faces, including the need for a $1 billion dollar committment from the state regardless of the option selected. Of the three proposals, funding NJ-3 would likely produce the largest return on investment for the state.
- 11.12.05 - We've added a new web page FTA Funding. The page compares FTA New Starts Funding criteria and the three proposed alternatives to dispell any myths about what does and doesn't matter in terms of securing funding. We believe it clearly shows that Alternative NJ-3 is the strongest choice for securing federal funding.
- 11.11.05 - The proposed PATCO expansion slowly moves forward with a $1.5M NJ DOT committment NJDOT will add $1.5M to PATCO rail study. In the Gloucester County Times Article, Senator Sweeney reasserted his position supporting the Rt 42 or Rt 55 plans because "We want to qualify for federal money, and to do that, you have to demonstrate that ridership is going to be there." However, the DRPA's study data shows that NJ-3 would have a higher projected ridership than the Rt 55 alternative. As well, there are other factors that help secure federal funds. Another criteria used is O&M cost per mile, which again NJ-3 is the lowest cost per mile of the three alternatives.
- 10.19.05 - The proposed PATCO expansion was not on the agenda of the October DRPA/PATCO Board Meeting. A DRPA spokesperson confirmed that the Transit study was still pending and a target is now late fall. They continue to take submissions to the online survey.
